Request for Permit to Remove a Right-of-Way Tree


The Huntsville Tree Ordinance (Municipal Code, Chapter 27, Article II, Trees) requires that anyone (other than public authority) desiring to remove a serviceable tree 6" in diameter or larger from the public right-of-way must first obtain a permit from the City Forester. There is no charge for permits granted, except that the person(s) removing the tree must plant replacement tree(s) of acceptable species, in approximately equal numbers, in acceptable location(s), on either public or private property. All personal information on permit requests is held in confidence.
